Do more with networks
Many networking organisations do more
than just hold meetings. They may invite speakers
or publish a newsletter thereby giving you additional
opportunities to get your message across.
If the group has an online presence - for instance on
LinkedIn - you can contribute to debates or
just help other people by joining in discussions.
Where it's relevant to the group you might offer to speak
at a meeting about your business. If you do,
remember that people won't want a 'hard sell'. Instead
tell them about your business, explain as much as you
can about your speciality, but don't expect to get any
orders. The purpose of such an opportunity is to
educate your audience about your business and to make an
impression so that if,
sometime in the future, they or someone they know needs
your services, you will be their first option.
If you contribute to a newsletter or someone else's blog
you might try the same
tactic. Aim to educate; perhaps provide a case study about a
satisfied customer or maybe announce a new product or
service.
